Sociology 1 (Study Group led by Megan Mizar)
Fall 2009- Mondays 2:00-3:30, 151 Chavez
Description of Study Group
Study Group Leaders facilitate discussion of course content and guide students in developing approaches to critical reading, time management, notetaking and exam strategies. Study Group Leaders will also hold office hours for students in the Study Group to provide individual tutoring. Study groups are free to all registered students and have been known to help students navigate course material in a more effective manner. Study Groups also provide students with an oppportunity to collaborate with their peers.
Study Group Policies
- Students who sign up and consistently attend Study Groups will be given priority for individual tutoring in courses supported by Study Groups. For students who request individual tutoring but do not join study groups, individual tutoring is extremely limited.
- Wait List: Admission to study groups are on a first come first serve basis. The first fourteen to sign up for each study group will likely receive a slot. All request after the first fourteen will be placed on a wait list.
- Caveat- Social Science study groups are not a drop-in format in that study group participants are asked to join the group and attend consistently throughout the course of the semester.
